Aimee YANG

Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Finance)/Bachelor of Management 

Aimee joined JC Legal in April 2019 and has assisted on a number of matters including sale and purchase of residential property and business, drafting Wills, Deed of Trust and Shareholders’ Agreement, and commercial and criminal litigations.
During the last three years Aimee has developed a broad range of experiences by working both locally and overseas. She also worked for the Law Society of Singapore’s Pro Bono Services and interned in a big law firm in Hong Kong within its Initial Public Offering (IPO) and Merger and Acquisition (M&C) teams.
Aimee has studied a wide range of laws include Company and Commercial Law, Contract, Tax Law, Civil and Criminal Procedure, Evidence, Intellectual property, Law of Personal Property and Family Law, which makes her well suited to represent a diverse range of legal needs.

Han Yan came to New Zealand in 2002. He obtained his Bachelor of Business in 2007 and a
Master of Management Studies in 2009 from Massey University.
After his graduation from Massey University, Han went to Waikato University for his law
studies. In 2014, Han obtained his LLB(Hons) due to his dedication. He was admitted as a
Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in August 2015.
Since joining the firm in 2016, Han has enjoyed working in some complex and diverse
matters such as conveyancing, immigration, family, and litigation-related for individual
clients. His dedication and client-based attitude have been acknowledged complimented by
his clients.
Han is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese.

Olga Pelevina had been studying law in the Moscow State University of Lomonosov and since 2009 has been practicing in the civil law country. She spent over 4 years working as a civil litigator and property lawyer. She moved to New Zealand with her family in 2014. Olga obtained LLB degree in Auckland University of Technology and got admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand. In New Zealand, she has worked mostly on immigration, property, commercial and estate matters. Olga joined our firm in early 2019. Olga is fluent in both English and Russian.


Dr Jaeho CHOI



Dr Choi is well renowned for his vast experience and excellent service.


He began his career with a BSc degree from Seoul National University in Korea, and further developed his knowledge through a PhD in Physics at the University of Leicester in England.


After immigrating to New Zealand in 2001, he pursued his new passion in law at the University of Auckland, and was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 2007. In 2011, Dr Choi founded JC Legal and has been delivering excellent legal services to the community.


Dr Choi specialises in Property, Business, and Civil Litigation. 

Marshall BIRD



Marshall Bird is unparalleled in the field of immigration law. 

He received his Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from the University of Michigan, USA, after graduating with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree as Senior Scholar in Law from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. 

As an Attorney at Law in Beverly Hills, California, he advised clients on business buy-outs and start-ups, and handled immigration cases for many high-profile clients.

In New Zealand he has specialised in immigration, consular, and refugee law for more than 25 years. He is now a part of the JC Legal team as an immigration law specialist.

Tae Wok KWON



Tae Wok Kwon is the first Korean New Zealand lawyer.

Mr. Kwon graduated both THE Seoul National University of the Republic of Korea where he majored Sociology and acquired BA, and THE University of Auckland of New Zealand where he studied law and obtained LLB.

Admitted in 1997, he had covered a wide range of legal practices including property, immigration, company, family, employment and litigation while practising as a solicitor for 7 years more or less.

He then went to the independent bar to practise as a barrister sole, and gained substantial trial experiences in the District Court and the High Court.

Mr. Kwon’s practice as a solicitor in JC Legal shall centre around property, immigration, and civil & criminal litigation.
